Global styles for body text, headings, links and lists can cover most of a site before you add a single class. When those defaults are set well, a plain paragraph or a basic list already looks right the moment you add it to a page.
That’s why it helps to set these defaults first. Classes then only need to handle what’s different, like a card or a special heading. This can often cut down on the number of classes you need, since you’re no longer rebuilding the same basic styles on every element.
